Armenia is the capital city of Quindío and, often referred to as the Miracle City due to its rapid economic transformation. Due to its central location and airport it is a gateway to many tourist attractions. The city itself offers many ecotourism attractions such as Villas to rent or sport activities such as golf country clubs. The city does a great deal of combining the temporary development with the traditional ways of their ancestors’ heritage. An Example of such is the Liberator Pathway, used by Colombia’s Liberator Simon Bolívar. The cuisine, in this region, is characterized by traditional crops and animals typical of this area. The Armenian cuisine makes especial use of dried apricots, fresh apples, pomegranate seeds and walnuts. They prefer making use of fresh herbs instead of spices.
