Coffee Triangle & Antíoquia
The Coffee Region is formed by the departments of Quindío, Caldas and Risaralda. They are among the smallest departments in Colombia. The combined population is 2,291,195 inhabitants (2005 census). These beautiful places have 513.000 people working on the production of 12.1 million coffee sacks which are exported to 36 countries around the world. The Coffee Zone is located on the central mountain range of the Colombian Andes. This region has become the first rural tourist destination in Latin America thanks to the construction of different attractions related to the coffee production and culture. The average temperature in this region is between 21ºC and 23°C.
Antioquia is located in the central northwestern part of Colombia. It consists of a lot of mountains with some valleys. Medellín is antioquia's capital city, and the second largest city in the country in terms of population.
